Monday Sept 21, 2015 - City of Toronto Sidewalk Marketing & Cafe Consultation
The City of Toronto Municipal Licensing and Standards (ML&S) Division is undertaking a review the by-laws governing sidewalk cafes and marketing displays on the public right-of-way (sidewalks). Currently there are 6 different by-laws regulating these activities. The objective of the review is to harmonize these by-laws so that consistent standards and permit processes apply across the city; and to review permit fees for these sidewalk uses.
At the same time, the Transportation Services Division is creating guidelines to help inform the design and layout of sidewalk cafes to ensure that adjacent sidewalks, and cafes located on sidewalks, are both safe and accessible. The City is committed to an open and inclusive process which incorporates stakeholder and public participation. More information about the project can be found on the review webpage, including dates for upcoming consultations. Click here for more details.
