Re-grading of the Parkette is underway with completion in July 2010. The Working Group met in May 2010 to further discuss the text and visual elements. The meeting included City's landscape architect who provided plans for the Parkette. The Parkette will feature 5 Bur oaks, 14 Chanticleer Ornamental Pear trees, 5,293 perennials and 3,000 Striped Squill bulbs. Ten benches will provide ample seating. The panels will be two-sided tempered glass panels with steel edges, measuring 24" X 84" sitting on a 12" base. A request for consideration of a sum from the Florian (Diamante) $500,000 contribution for streetscape and park improvements was made to Councillor Rae as follows:- From: GYRA – The Greater Yorkville Residents' Association Sent: June 6, 2010 6:24pm To: Councillor Kyle Rae Subject: 76 Davenport Road Section 45 (9) Contribution $250,000: Frank Stollery Parkette Davenport Road Interpretive Panels Dear Councillor Rae: The Committee of Adjustment Notice of Decision of April 28, 2010 states the owner shall make a financial contribution in the amount of $250,000 for streetscape and park improvements to be allocated in consultation with the Ward Councillor and area residents. As you are aware the Frank Stollery Parkette is currently being regraded, and in a recent meeting with Landscape Architect Marc Kramer, he wondered if there were sufficient funds to complete the work and also pay for the three Davenport Road interpretive panels. We also talked about the future maintenance and eventual replacement of the panels. I therefore request consideration of a sum from the 76 Davenport Road contribution be allocated to the future maintenance and eventual replacement of these panels, and should there be insufficient funds to complete the regrading and panel costs, that the shortfall be covered, too. Thank you for your consideration. Signed: Gee Chung
